SLO RATTLERS RECEIVE WAKEUP CALL FROM DEFENDING LEAGUE CHAMPS, LOSE 8-1
San Luis Obispo, Calf. - No one said it was going to be easy taking the league title from the 13-time defending CCL champion, and the Santa Barbara Foresters did not make the road to the top any smoother for the San Luis Obispo Rattlers tonight, as the Rattlers lost 8-1 to the Foresters tonight at Sinsheimer Stadium.
Rattlers starting pitcher Eddie Newman (5-3) got off to a rocky start by giving up one run in the first and second innings, and then things got out of hand. Foresters designated hitter Kevin Keyes, 2 for 5, hit a two run homer in the third inning and left fielder Medchill, 2 for 5, hit another two run bomb over right field to give the visiting team a big lead, 6-0
The Forresters put up two more runs in the eighth inning.
Gus's Grocery and Deli player of the game was left fielder Casey Lytle, who went 2 for 4 and knocked in a run in the ninth inning with a single up the right side.
The Rattlers (27-16 overall, 15-8 CCL) will play a CCL doubleheader at Sinsheimer Stadium tomorrow against the Santa Barbara Foresters. First game will begin at 12 p.m.
