RATTLERS STRIKE BACK AGAINST BLUES 8-2 San Luis Obispo, Calif. - In the last battle of Sinsheimer Stadium until next summer, the San Luis Obispo Rattlers came out on top by beating the San Luis Obispo Blues. The Blues (33-13) got ahold of the lead in the top of the fourth inning on a solo shot by catcher Monk Kreder, who went 1 for 3, over deep left center. The Rattlers tied it up later that inning when first baseman Daniel Howell, 2 for 2, singled up the middle to score catcher Josh Jackson, Jackson went 3 for 5. They took the lead next inning on back to back doubles by right fielder Colt Ferguson and second baseman Evan Busby.
Ferguson also saved a run defensively in the bottom of the 1st when he threw out Blues 3rd Baseman Kyle Frasard at the plate to end the 1st inning.
With bases loaded and one out in the bottom of the sixth, Ferguson knocked a two RBI single up the middle to help the Rattlers extend their lead over the local rival 4-1. Eric Anderson, the Gus's Grocery player of the game, pitched through seven and allowed no runs after the fourth inning to pick up his fifth win. The Blues scored another run in the top of the eighth inning. The home team had won every game in the summer series, and with Kyle Tognazzini in, a closer that hasn't allowed a single run the entire summer, the Rattlers scored four more runs to bring the lead to 8-2. Tognazzini earned his 7th save of the summer. The Rattlers (26-15 overall, 15-7 CCL) will play the Scouts Wahoos tomorrow at Sinsheimer Stadium. First pitch is at 6:05 p.m.
