THE SLO RATTLERS ENJOY GIVING LOCAL SINGING TALENT THE OPPORTUNITY TO PERFORM OUR NATIONAL ANTHEM PRIOR TO EACH AND EVERY GAME.
Having a person sing the National Anthem is so much better than listening to a recording. Program Director Linda Wilson does an outstanding job of recruiting local talent to perform for Rattlers fans.We will promote and document each performance this summer via this web page. SCHEDULE OF PERFORMERS Tuesday June 3rdLinda WilsonNational Anthem Program Coordinator Linda Wilson is pleased to sing tonight for the Opening of the San Luis Obispo Rattlers 2nd season. Linda lives in San Luis Obispo, and she returns to sing the National Anthem this season. Linda teaches music and theatre in SLO County, having recently founded a new theatre company. Coastal Conservatory Theatre will offer 3 one week camps for children this summer starting June 23rd. Look for a flyer at the gate! We at the SLO Rattlers would like to THANK Linda Wilson for not only performing our 2008 Opening Day National Anthem, but also for all that she does in scheduling and coordinating the National Anthem performers are season long. Her assistance is invaluable, and we are grateful for all of her efforts. Wednesday June 4thDaniel SalasDaniell Salas is an 8th grade student at the Atascadero Fine Arts Academy, where he is an active vocalist and 2-time member of the National Honor Choir! He has been performing state-wide for 7 years, and aspires to be a professional performer. Daniel is also an avid dancer with the Civic Ballet of San Luis Obispo and the Claddagh School of Irish Dance. He is thrilled to be performing the National Anhem, and he hopes everyone enjoys the game! The SLO Rattlers would like to Thank Daniel for performing our National Anthem! Thursday June 5thEd SaliklisEd Saliklis is a professor in the Architectural Engineering Department at Cal Poly. A recent transplant from Pennsylvania, Ed moved to SLO in 2006 to teach at Cal Poly. He enjoys teaching the wonderful Architectural Engineering students and he has an active research program. He also finds time to play the ukulele in a jazz duo, and he often serenades his lovely wife Rita during the cool California evenings. Ed is also a Music Minister at Old Mission Church in San Luis Obispo. The SLO Rattlers would like to THANK Ed, and the entire Architectural Engineering Department at Cal Poly for their participation with SLO Rattlers Baseball! Tuesday June 17thKatelyn HollidayKatelyn Holliday lives in San Luis Obispo, and will be a Senior at Mission College Preparatory Catholic High School in the Fall. She takes professional voice lessons, is a member of the Vocal Arts Youth Choir, and has performed with the Pacific Repertory Opera in San Luis Obispo. Last Fall she appeared as Annie Oakley in Annie Get Your Gun for Mission College Prep. Katelyn has a passion for singing, and hopes to pursue a degree in Music at Cal Poly. The SLO Rattlers would like to THANK Katelyn for performing our National Anthem! Thursday June 19thIris Canete EdisonIris Canete Edison is a recent early graduate of Paso Robles High School. She plans to attend Cuesta College in the Fall. Iris has performed the National Anthem for several events at Cal Poly. She has also performed the anthem at a Major League Soccer game for the Galaxy. The SLO Rattlers would like to THANK Iris for performing our National Anthem! Friday June 20th Kelly Barrett11-Year Old Kelly Barrett just finished the 6th Grade at Ocean View Elementary in Arroyo Grande. She is passionate about singing, dancing, and Musical Theater, having performed with the SLO Children's Theater, Kelrik Productions, and PCPA. Kelly also enjoys being involved in Camp Fire USA, as well as playing piano, tennis, and soccer. Kelly will be appearing in the upcoming "Best of Hollywood" at the SLO Little Theatre, playing June 27th through July 20th. She looks forward to being a 7th grader at Judkin's Middle School in the Fall. The SLO Rattlers would like to THANK Kelly for performing our National Anthem! Saturday June 21 - Ladies NightMarnie Knight17-Year Old Marnie Knight just Graduated from Arroyo Grande High School. She plans on attending Allan Hancock College in the Fall, majoring in Musical Theater. Marnie enjoys dancing, acting, singing, and hanging out with friends. Marnie has performed in many local theater productions, including the Studio of Performing Arts in Arroyo Grande. She hopes you enjoy hearing her as much as she enjoys singing it for you. Sunday June 22nd Tuesday June 24th Lindsey MilsteadSan Luis Obispo Native Lindsey Milstead will be a sophomore at San Luis Obispo High School in the Fall. She plays Soccer and runs Track at SLOHS, and will be a JV Cheerleader next year. Lindsey played Meg last Fall in the Coastal Conservatory Theatre Production of Little Women. Lindsey loves to sing, and is excited to be making her 1st Appearance performing the National Anthem for the SLO Rattlers. Wednesday June 25thRebecca McKinleyRebecca McKinley is an 8th grade student at Coastal Christian School in Arroyo Grande. Rebecca has appeared in musical theatre performances with the SLO Chilldren's Theatre and Pismo Youth Theatre. Rebecca sings in the Central Coast Childen's Choir, and has performed in 3 productions with the Choir for the Pacific Repertory Opera at the Performing Arts Center. Her Most Memorable event was a recent trip to Washington D.C., where she experienced the richness of our American Heritage. The SLO Rattlers would like to THANK Rebecca for performing our National Anthem! Thursday, June 26 Curtis Schilling Curtis Schilling is 12 years old and will attend Laguna Middle School in the fall. He has been playing the electric guitar for 4 years. In 2006 Curtis entered a local guitar solo competition and at 10 years old was the youngest competitor. Curtis went on to win 1st place in the competition which included kids up to 17 years old. Curtis studies at Grand Central Music Conservatory, working with many of their talented instructors. Guitar is truly Curtis’ passion, and his influences are Jimi Hendrix, Jimmy Page and Eddie Van Halen. Curtis dreams of being a rock star someday, but he is also a devoted basketball player, and loves to wake and snow board. You can find Curtis on You Tube! Friday, July 4 Caroline Hoskins Caroline just completed the 8th grade at Laguna Middle School and will attend SLO High School in the fall. Caroline has been involved in theatre since she was 3 years old, just recently completing an appearance in Godspell for SLO Children’s Theatre. She enjoys reading, writing, singing and swimming. Go Blues! Saturday, July 5 Pacific Horizon Chorus Singing our National Anthem today is the Pacific Horizon Chorus. Led by Diane Douglas and Gail Merneckee, they are members of the Sweet Adelines. The PHC always welcomes women who love to sing. They meet weekly in SLO at the Adult School on Lizzie Street. Upcoming events include a workshop on August 16th and an outdoor concert at the Atascadero Lake Park on August 24th. Sunday, July 6 Cheyenne Hardiman Cheyenne Hardiman is 12 years old, loves to sing and dance and is a talented performer. She recently appeared in the SLO Teen Idol competition at the SLO Ludwick center. Last fall Cheyenne appeared in the Great American Melodrama’s production of “A Christmas Carol”. She is a member of a dance performance team for American Dance Studio of San Luis Obispo. She has sung our National Anthem for several other local organizations and events. Cheyenne is honored to be here sing our National Anthem tonight. Tuesday, July 8 Reid Cain Reid Cain from the Central Coast Kings of Country and Western, Red Eye Junction. Originally from the mountains of Colorado, Reid moved to the central coast four years ago to surf. For the last year his band has been playing original hard hitting country songs right here in San Luis Obispo. Catch them Friday night July 11th in Los Osos at the Sweet Springs Saloon or look for them at the mid-state fair on the Castaway stage August 3rd before the bull riding finals. Tuesday, July 15 Renee Rettler Renee is a Customer Service representative for Founders Community Bank, where she has worked for a little over two years. She has lived on the Central Coast since 1958. My favorite past time is singing whether it be around the house, in my car or occasional karaoke. My motto is if you can’t feel the song, don’t sing it. This is her second year singing the N.A. for the SLO Rattlers! Thursday, July 17 Amanda Brown Amanda Brown is honored to sing the National Anthem for the SLO Rattlers. Amanda has performed our National Anthem for many years, having sung at many local events. Amanda sings professionally for Eddie Lee and the Steady Money Band and the Uncommon Carolers here on the Central Coast. Amanda is a proud mother of 2 and is the owner of Body Sculptors Fitness Company. Friday, July 18 Caroline Hoskins and Kimi McCarty Caroline and Kimi are both students at Laguna Middle School. Caroline has been involved in theatre since she was 3 years old, just recently completing an appearance in Godspell for SLO Children’s Theatre. Caroline enjoys reading, writing, singing and swimming. Kimi is also a theatre junkie, having recently appeared in Kelrik’s production of High School Musical. Kimi plays softball and is on the SLO Allstars who traveled to San Diego last weekend competing in the . Both are graduates of Pacheco School, and have studied Spanish for many years. Go Rattlers! Saturday, July 19 Tanya Mueller Tanya is SLO resident since birth and has enjoyed raising her family here as well. Her ultimate goal is to hear one of her songs on the radio, whether or not its her singing it! Tanya’s life revolves around her husband and 2 kids and then music, at least when work's not getting in the way. Tanya loves living the SLO life and is happy to be singing our National Anthem tonight for the SLO Rattlers! Sunday, July 20 Chelsea Malek Chelsea Malek will be a Junior at Morro Bay High School this fall. She has studied music for a number of years and hopes to pursue a career in music. Chelsea recently played the role of Kelsi in Kelrick's production of High School Musical. She recently competed in the SLO Teen Idol competition and took first place. Look for this local girl in the future – maybe American Idol? Wednesday, July 23 Kendahl Hix and Kendahl Hix will be a fourth grader at Old Mission School in the fall. She has appeared in several local theatre productions, including The Little Princess and Annie Get Your Gun at Mission College Prep and Little Women with Coastal Conservatory Theatre.
