SAN LUIS OBISPO RATTLERS - CAL POLY ARCHITECTURAL ENGINEERING (LEEDS) SENIOR PROJECT
California Polytechnic University - San Luis Obispo
Architectural Engineering Department LEEDS Senior Project Program Faculty Advisor: Craig Baltimore, Ph.D.,S.E., Associate Professor Scope: This a Senior Project with the purpose of designing a theoretical, and hopefully, a realistic Sinsheimer Stadium complex of the future. Students get the experience of working with a real world client (SLO Rattlers), and also gain experience working with local government (Parks and Recreation Department, Joint Use Committee, Planning Department, etc.) Students apply the principles of the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEEDS) design approach to propose and document suggested renovations to Sinsheimer Stadium and the surrounding complex. MLB's Washington Nationals used the LEEDS design principles in designing there new $611 Million Nationals Park. Green Design: Nationals Park will strive to become the first major stadium in the United States accredited as a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Green Building Rating Systemâ„¢ certified ballpark. The new ballpark will pay particular attention to issues affecting the health of the Anacostia River, such as stormwater management and minimization of water pollution. ALL that would remain to be done to make the proposals a reality, would be to procure the funds for said project (either through government allocation, via private citizen donations, or through fund raising efforts) and to get a certified architect/engineer to create professional plans based upon the students work and research.
