Rattlers Drop CCL Finale To Packers, 7-5, Finish In 3rd Place

Starting Pitcher Bob Mott went 4 innings, allowing 2 hits, 1 run, 1 earned run, 1 hit batter, and had 5 stikeouts.
LHP Danny Price (3-2) suffered the loss, allowing 4 runs, 3 earned runs, in the bottom of the 8th inning.
Offensively, 3B Chad Reynolds went 2 for 4, with a 2B, 2 RBI's, 1 run scored, and 1 BB.
1B Joe Weik went 1 for 3, with a sac fly, 1 RBI, and 1 BB.
The Rattlers finished the summer 3-3 against the Packers in CCL play, 3-4 against them overall (Rawling's Cup).
The Rattlers loss 6 straight CCL games, after starting league play 11-7. The Rattlers finished in 3rd Place in the CCL, an improvement over last Summer when they finished 4th in a 7 team CCL, 2.5 games behind the CCL Champions, the Santa Barbara Foresters.
The Santa Barbara Foresters wear the title of CCL Champions yet again. As a result of the Foresters receiving an automatic bid to participate in the NBC World Series due to being the defending NBC Champions, the 2nd Place Conejo Oaks will also receive an invitation to participate in the NBC World Series. The Oaks entered tonight's play with a CCL mark of 12-11, but clinched 2nd Place regardless of the results of their game against the Foresters once the Rattlers lost.
We wish the Santa Barbara Foresters, and if they go, the Conejo Oaks, the best of luck in Wichita, KS. We know they will represent the CCL well as they pursue the 2009 NBC Championship!
The Rattlers conclude their Summer season with two "road" games against the SLO Blues this Saturday and Sunday at Sinsheimer Stadium.
Game time Saturday is 6:35pm. Game time Sunday is 1:05pm.
